You fold all the hands you were dealt
Just to find they're creased up all in your sleeves
You try not to swallow the words they've spoken
But sooner or later they come back as you

How'd you manage to hate being wanted
At the same time that you dread being forgotten?
You can tear up the map that they gave you
But you're still left with a direction

You struck your match on someone's fire
But remember someone lit theirs before you
So you rewrite the story beneath you
But the ending still becomes you

Now everybody's dying to tell you
That nobody's telling them what to do
While they're building lives out of mirrors
Taking credit for every reflection

You bury the parts that are borrowed
Keep digging you wont find a bottom
Just peel away everything familiar
Until nothing remains to show you exist

If you take away the nothing I added
Everything left was already there
